1. Who We Are
SermonBuild ("we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered sermon preparation platform built exclusively for pastors and ministry leaders. Our platform is accessible at app.sermonbuild.com. Questions about this policy can be directed to admin@sermonbuild.com.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address. Your password is never stored in plain text — authentication is managed securely through Supabase.
Sermon Content: Sermons, notes, sermon series, outlines, and any other content you create within the application are stored in our database and associated with your account. This content is yours.
Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. We retain only the information Stripe provides to confirm subscription status (e.g., plan type, billing period, last-4 digits for display).
Usage Data: We may collect information about how you interact with the application — features used, pages visited, and session duration — to improve the product. This data is not tied to your sermon content.
Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the SermonBuild platform
- To authenticate your identity and manage your account
- To process payments and manage your subscription
- To power AI features — your content or selected passages may be sent to OpenAI to generate suggestions, outlines, theological commentary summaries, and study guide content
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts) via SendGrid
- To respond to support requests and improve the product
- To comply with legal obligations
4. AI Processing of Your Content
SermonBuild uses the OpenAI API to power features such as the AI writing assistant, theological assistant, sermon outline generator, study question generator, and commentary summarization. When you use these features, relevant portions of your sermon text or selected scripture are transmitted to OpenAI's API for processing.
We do not use your content to train our own models. OpenAI's API data usage policies apply to API interactions — OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default. You can review OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party providers:
- Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and file storage. Data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure.
- OpenAI — AI language model API for writing assistance and content generation features.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
- SendGrid — transactional email delivery (account emails, billing receipts).
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum information necessary with each provider to deliver the service.
6. Content Sharing
SermonBuild includes features that allow you to share sermon content and study guides with others — for example, sharing a public study guide link with your congregation. When you create a public share link, the content you choose to share becomes accessible to anyone with that link. Shared content is not indexed by search engines unless you explicitly publish it to a public URL.
Sharing is opt-in. We do not make your sermons or notes public without your action.
7. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase-managed infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS). We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your sermons and personal information will be removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g., billing records).
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information in your account
- Export your sermon content (available via the app's export features — PDF, DOCX, PPTX)
- Delete your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time
To exercise these rights, email us at admin@sermonbuild.com. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Cookies
SermonBuild uses essential cookies for authentication session management (managed by Supabase). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If we add analytics in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
11. Children's Privacy
SermonBuild is intended for adults and ministry professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
12. International Users
SermonBuild is operated from the United States. If you access the platform from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using SermonBuild, you consent to such transfers.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of SermonBuild after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
